What is the CSS Profile and its Fee?

The CSS Profile is a financial aid application used by some colleges and universities to determine a student's eligibility for non-federal financial aid, such as institutional grants and scholarships. The application requires a fee of $25 for the initial application and one college or program report, and $16 for each additional college or program report.

How to Qualify for CSS Profile Fee Waivers

However, fee waivers are available for students who cannot afford the application fee. To be considered for a fee waiver, students must indicate their financial need when filling out the CSS Profile application. The College Board, which administers the CSS Profile, will then review the information provided and determine if the student is eligible for a fee waiver.

Eligibility for a CSS Profile fee waiver is typically based on a student's financial need and/or status as an orphan, ward of the court, or homeless youth. Students who have received a SAT or ACT fee waiver may also be eligible for a CSS Profile fee waiver.

It's important to note that not all colleges and universities require the CSS Profile for financial aid, and some schools may have their own separate fee waiver policies. Therefore, students should check with the financial aid office of each school they are considering to determine the specific application requirements and fee waiver policies.
